All proceeds from the sale of Pirate Paks on August 19 will go towards White Spot Week at Zajac Ranch
VANCOUVER – The sails are drawn, the first mate is at the wheel and a tasty White Spot kids’ meal is on deck. Since White Spot served its first Pirate Pak in 1968, kids from across British Columbia and Alberta have grown to relish eating out of the iconic ship as part of a fun, imaginative dining ritual. In celebration of this legendary favourite, White Spot is launching Pirate Pak Day – an annual event to reminisce about the simple joys of childhood and create lasting memories for future generations.
“The overwhelming response we received from the Pirate Pak’s 40th birthday celebration last year speaks to the timeless appeal of White Spot’s famous kids’ meal,” said Warren Erhart, president of White Spot. “With the launch of Pirate Pak Day, we hope to keep the magic and tradition of the Pirate Pak alive for years to come and encourage children to exercise their imagination, have fun and enjoy being a kid.”
In honour of Pirate Pak Day on Wednesday, August 19, all proceeds from Pirate Pak sales and contributions received in lieu of Pirate Paks will be donated to the Zajac Ranch for Children – a longtime B.C. charity dedicated to giving children with life-threatening illnesses and chronic disabilities an unforgettable summer camp experience.
“White Spot is thrilled that all proceeds from the sale of Pirate Paks will help send kids to Zajac Ranch for ‘White Spot Week’ from August 24 to 28,” said Erhart. “The kids will participate in a variety of activities such as horseback riding, kayaking, water sports and arts and crafts – an opportunity that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.”
A mainstay on the White Spot menu for more than 40 years, the Pirate Pak was first created by Nat Bailey to provide an exclusive dining experience for kids age 10 and under. The Pirate Pak costs $5.99 and is available in a range of appetizing options including the Legendary Burger, grilled cheese sandwich, Pirate Pals crispy-coated chicken, macaroni and cheese and lightly battered Pacific Cod. Each mouth-watering choice still comes complete with fresh-cut fries, a beverage, a scoop of ice cream and a chocolate "gold" doubloon.
